The Sovereign of Atlantia is a monarch of Atlantia, entitled to wear a crown, to be addressed as Your Majesty, to sit the throne, and to give awards to Atlantia's subjects. The Atlantian monarch rules in conjunction with his/her/their consort and in accordance with Atlantian Law and with the advice of their Curia Regis.
They are addressed as "Your Majesty" or "Your Royal Majesty" and referred to in the third person as "King/Queen/Sovereign (given name)," depending on gender. They may wear a crown to indicate their rank.
The monarchs of the Atlantia are chosen by right of combat twice a year at the Spring and Fall Crown Tournaments. The winner of the Crown Tournament becomes the Heir Apparent (the Sovereign's Heir). This means when the reigning Sovereign steps down, they will be next to be crowned Sovereign, ascending the thrones as King and Queen at a Coronation event, and will rule for approximately six (6) months.
A Count or Countess is a person who has reigned as Sovereign once. A Duke or Duchess is a person who has reigned as Sovereign more than once.
