''Melisande has been an inspiration since I joined the SCA. While the blue belts of Oldcastle trace back to her partner, Girth Oldcastle, she has been the leader of that clan for as long as I have memory.''
== Melisande, Azure ==
In Belvoir’s hall, where honor weaves its thread,
Fair Melisande, with wisdom’s crown adorned,
Sits high in grace, her heart a shining star.
Her courtesy, a balm to soothe the fraught,
She sees the worthy through a noble lens,
And gifts the blue belt as her solemn sign.

No jest nor flattery may earn her sign;
The path is paved with deeds, not empty thread.
For she, who judges through the keenest lens,
Commands respect, her will by all adorned.
Her speech is gentle, yet it stirs the fraught,
A guiding voice, like light from evening’s star.

In heavens deep there shines no truer star
Than she whose wisdom marks her righteous sign.
When tempests rise and hearts are sorely fraught,
Her steadfast words repair the weakest thread.
By knight and dame alike she is adorned,
Their worth revealed beneath her knowing lens.

Her eyes, as mirrors, are the judge’s lens,
Reflecting both the shadow and the star.
Each belt bestowed, with solemn care adorned,
Becomes for bearer both a gift and sign.
Their virtues woven like a silken thread,
Each tested, honed, in times both fair and fraught.

Yet in her court, where tempers oft are fraught,
None hide from her discerning, noble lens.
The tales she weaves are spun of golden thread,
A record bright beneath an eternal star.
No whimsy rules the meaning of her sign,
No simple prize to wear, though richly adorned.

Her grace endures, by generations adorned,
Through trials faced, both joyous and fraught.
The blue belt bears her legacy, her sign,
The mark of justice through her careful lens.
And those who hold it shine as bright as star,
A tribute to her wisdom’s lasting thread.

Thus, Melisande, her thread of life adorned,
Remains a star through ages bright and fraught,
Her lens a beacon, and her belt the sign.
