Joshua MacDonald the Imperfekt (he/him/his) began in the SCA in the late 1980s in the East Kingdom in the Barony of Bhakail. He has attended every Pennsic War since 1990. Joshua MacDonald the Imperfekt (he/him/his) began in the SCA in the late 1980s in the East Kingdom in the Barony of Bhakail. == Biography ==
Joshua MacDonald the Imperfekt (he/him/his) began in the SCA in the late 1980s in the East Kingdom in the Barony of Bhakail. He registered his name with the College of Heralds in 1993<ref>http://oanda.sca.org/oanda_name.cgi?p=Joshua%20MacDonald</ref>, received his (very imperfect) [[Award of Arms]] in 1995<ref>https://op.eastkingdom.org/op_ind.php?atlantian_id=9819</ref>, and registered his device in 2003<ref>http://oanda.sca.org/oanda_name.cgi?p=Joshua%20MacDonald</ref> while residing in the Barony of Calafia in the Kingdom of Caid. He has been very actively involved with [[Clan Blue Feather]], starting the Clan encampment at Pennsic, hosting the annual Clan Blue Feather Ball & Fashion Cotillion (an ongoing Pennsic tradition), and co-autocratting the first Clan event in York, PA. He has attended every Pennsic War since 1990. Joshua MacDonald the Imperfekt began in the SCA in the late 1980s in the East Kingdom in the Barony of Bhakail. He has been very actively involved with [[Clan Blue Feather]], starting the Clan encampment at Pennsic, hosting the annual Clan Blue Feather Ball & Fashion Cotillion (an ongoing Pennsic tradition), and co-autocratting the first Clan event in York, PA. He has attended every Pennsic War since 1990. The University of Atlantia is dedicated to the advancement of teaching in the Kingdom of Atlantia, SCA, Inc. Degrees presented by the University of Atlantia are not awards of the Society for Creative Anachronism or any of its branches and do not convey SCA precedence. We are therefore pleased to be able to offer degrees to qualifying students and faculty across the Knowne World.

There are two to three University sessions each year. If you are interested in hosting a University, please refer to our bid guidelines.

We invite all who are interested to join us. You don’t have to be Atlantian or even an SCA member to participate, although we do require all students to register for the classes they want to attend.

In the June/July 1988 issue of the Pikestaff Seosamh O'Choda published an ad inviting bisexual, lesbian, and gay members of the SCA to meet on the battlefield at that summer's Pennsic War. Over seventy people attended this inaugural meeting, and attendees talked about how they wanted to move forward. After much discussion both during and after Pennsic, the symbol of the blue feather was adopted at the following Pennsic in 1989, and the device - "argent, a feather azure" - was registered with the College of Heralds for the Clan's use by Moses von dem Falken of the East (as "House Blue Feather") in 1990. (Note that there was a false notion that lady troubadours in Renaissance Venice used to wear a blue feather to indicate they preferred women, but this remains an undocumented rumor.) At Pennsic 1990 attendees formally chose the name Clan Blue Feather for the household.

In July 1988 Seosamh also started publishing a newsletter entitled "... But It's Period!", which was taken over by Giles Hill of Sweetwater in 1993. A second publication, "The Bluefeather," was also published concurrently. Both newsletters are no longer published.

In 1993 Tristan Alexander began the Blue Feather Ball at Pennsic, and in 1995 [[Joshua MacDonald the Imperfekt]] took over running it and added a Fashion Cotillion; the event has become a popular and well-attended event at Pennsic and continues annually. In 1992 Joshua also started an encampment for the Clan at Pennsic, which also continues to this day, offering an open invitation to all members of the LGBTQI community and their friends and allies who wish to camp with them.

In recognition of the hospitality shown by the Clan over the years, they were given the Award of the Hearthstead at Pennsic in 2014 by TRM Siegfried IV and Elizabeth II of the Kingdom of Northshield<ref>http://www.northshield.org/Populace/Persona.aspx?ID=5410</ref>.

Throughout the years members of the Clan repeatedly decided on a somewhat autonomous collective as an organizational structure; therefore, there is no Clan Chieftan or Tribal Council. Rather, members of the Clan are encouraged to develop and implement their own ideas, projects, and events on behalf of the Clan, as long as they are done with honor, chivalry, and courtesy.

The Clan is intended to both promote scholarly research into period LGBT history, and to provide a social outlet for LGBTQI members of the SCA.

==Device and customs==
The device as registered is intended for use by anyone who wants to identify as part of the Clan, the only caveat being that it be used chivalrously and courteously. In addition to the badge itself, simply wearing a blue feather as part of your garb is also commonly done to identify yourself as part of the Clan. Traditionally dark blue feathers are worn by those people who identify as LGBTQI, and light blue feathers are worn by their friends and allies.

Given the SCA does not have a Society-wide structure in place to recognize households, several members took it upon themselves to see about having Clan Blue Feather recognized in their own kingdoms (in some cases in order to be listed in their kingdom newsletters).

In the East, Alexandros Pantellios submitted the Clan as a Guild in 2000, but it was not approved by the crowns at the time. The Guild was also intended to provide an organizational structure as a subset of the Clan which could eventually be used to give out Clan-level awards for service, fighting, and art, but it did not manage to get off the ground.

Joshua MacDonald the Imperfekt began in the SCA in the late 1980s in the East Kingdom in the Barony of [[Bhakail]]. == Biography ==
Joshua MacDonald the Imperfekt began in the SCA in the late 1980s in the East Kingdom in the Barony of [[Bhakail]]. He registered his name with the [[College of Heralds]] in 1993<ref>http://oanda.sca.org/oanda_name.cgi?p=Joshua%20MacDonald</ref>, received his (very imperfect) [[Award of Arms]] in 1995<ref>https://op.eastkingdom.org/op_ind.php?atlantian_id=9819</ref>, and registered his device in 2003<ref>http://oanda.sca.org/oanda_name.cgi?p=Joshua%20MacDonald</ref> while residing in the Barony of Calafia in the Kingdom of [[Caid]]. He has been very actively involved with [[Clan Blue Feather]], starting the Clan encampment at Pennsic, hosting the annual Clan Blue Feather Ball & Fashion Cotillion (an ongoing Pennsic tradition), and co-autocratting the first Clan event in York, PA. He has attended every [[Pennsic War]] since 1990. He currently resides in the Kingdom of Atlantia in the Barony of Dun Carraig.

== Introduction ==
Geoffrey d'Ayr of Montalban is a younger son of a minor Anglo-Norman family holding lands primarily in Wales ("They came over with the Conquest and kept heading West until they found something small enough to conquer"). As a younger son, he felt he could best find a fulfilling career in the Church - which ever one was in favor at the moment - and has risen to the rank of Bishop of the small and obscure see of Apsoluddly Nwehr in Mortshire, Wales.
While primarily a fringe player in the English late-16th Century to early 17th Century court, he will shamelessly adapt to whatever time and place he finds himself, with a distinct preference for the Italian Renaissance, with side trips to Japan, India, and several other cultures. Geoffrey's first SCA event was a Twelfth Night in Myrkwood in 1972, and he has been hanging about ever since.

== Offices & Positions ==
Over the course of many years, Geoffrey has held many positions, mostly in the East Kingdom, where he lived in the Barony of Bhakail from 1972 through 2014. He has been Exchequer, Herald and Seneschal of Bhakail, Vicar three times, Brigantia Principal Herald of the East, an authorized fighter (Pennsics 2 and 3), warranted Marshall off and on through the 1970's, Deputy Kingdom Marshall (for paperwork) and Kingdom Seneschal of the East. He gave up that job to be the first member of the Board of Directors of the Society from East of the Rockies, during the early 1980's.
After a fallow period of about 15 years, during which his mundane career (Public Health Program Manager) took over his life, Geoffrey retired, left behind everything and everyone he knew in Philadelphia, and moved to Charleston SC (Canton of Tear-Sea's Shore in the Barony of Hidden Mountain).
Now an Atlantian of some 6 years, he has been Canton Exchequer, Baronial Seneschal, and is now both Baronial Exchequer and Coral Branch Herald, Exchequer for the College of Heralds of Atlantia.
